NOTICING AND WONDERING

I notice a theme right now - many organizations are asking to upskill their often overlooked middle managers / emerging leaders in our self-growth oriented leadership program. Groops for Leaders focuses on helping leaders develop self-awareness, improve self-regulation, increase motivation, set goals, take initiative, adapt, take accountability, and continue to learn in growth groups led by experts in psychology. Emerging leaders develop, practice, test, and learn - together.

This feels different. It feels new.

We see these leaders deeply engage, light up with pride, double down on commitment to the organization, and grow into people who know how to build highly cohesive, high-performing teams, much like a practitioner in training with the support of peers and an expert.

Knowing that middle managers and emerging leaders  hold the key to team engagement and commitment, I wonder what the organizational impact would be if all companies focused on self-growth focused leadership? I wonder how this would impact society as a whole?

A QUOTE TO THINK ABOUT

Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves.
— Carl Jung, a Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst who founded analytical psychology

SOMETHING TO TRY

Notice your big feelings this week as defined by a feeling you would rate as 7+ (on a 0-10 scale). Without judging yourself, just observe when you have these feelings. Ask yourself:  what is the feeling and what I am thinking when I have this feeling? Look for themes. You will start to notice that certain things trigger us because they go against our core values (or our inner narratives about what is important). Move to deeper self-understanding. This helps us lead better and have strong relationships in all parts of our life.

A DEEP-ish QUESTION (or Three)

What frustrated you at work recently? Why was it frustrating?

Out of all the things to feel frustrated about, why this?

Which of your core values did this challenge?

Keep on connecting. Cohesion is built one connection thread at a time.

Best,
